Forge Elburg

The traditional business in the Smedestraat, where the museum forge is nowadays, also threatened to disappear. To prevent this, the ‘Foundation for the Conservation of the Elburger Forge’ was established on October 16, 2003.
The age-old forge on the ground floor was revived, complete with brick fire with hanging flue, anvils and work benches. To be able to set up an exhibition in the attic, a 400-year-old layer of dust had to be removed first.
